OpenUSDT is a joint effort by leading blockchain infrastructure providers and protocols Celo, Chainlink, Hyperlane, and Velodrome collaborating to bring a new interoperable USDT token to the OP Superchain ecosystem: OpenUSDT (oUSDT).

OpenUSDT features

• Is natively interoperable across all Superchain networks today, with cross-chain transfers powered by Hyperlane and secured with Chainlink CCIP, with zero vendor lock-in

• Leverages Celo as the hub chain where native USDT is locked to mint OpenUSDT on other chains, while maintaining a 1:1 verifiable backing

• Can rapidly expand to new Superchain networks with CCIP and out-of-the-box Hyperlane deployments

• Provides free access for additional chains to integrate support for OpenUSDT

• Can seamlessly upgrade to use native Superchain interop in the future with ERC-7802, creating a standardized interface for key stakeholders like wallets.
• Remains upgradeable to native USDT, enabling an eventual transition to native minting and redemptions on a chain-by-chain basis, in collaboration with Tether.
